Nekotto Island Review: Hunt, Battle, and Romance Cat-Ear Girls in Space
This Nekotto Island review covers one of DLsite’s sleeper hits in the 3D action category. The game drops you on an alien planet with nekomimi companions. Your job is to hunt creatures and scavenge spaceship parts to escape. Over 8,500 buyers have already taken the plunge. Moreover, a 4.16 rating across 1,687 reviews signals that mukkun.App built something worth your time. The sci-fi survival loop mixed with netorare routes gives this title a unique identity. As a result, it stands apart from typical cat-ear hunting games. Let’s break down whether it deserves a spot in your library.
Gameplay: What Makes It Unique
This Nekotto Island review begins with the core loop: hunt creatures, gather fuel, and scavenge spaceship parts to escape a hostile planet. In short, the survival-action hybrid structure keeps each session focused on tangible progress. The sci-fi framing gives purpose to every resource run. You always know why you’re hunting — your ship needs fixing.
However, the early hours test your patience. Systems go largely unexplained, forcing you to learn through trial and error. Additionally, vehicle controls feel stiff until muscle memory kicks in. Newcomers should expect a rough first hour before the mechanics start clicking.
Fortunately, freedom of approach makes up for that learning curve. You team up with nekomimi companions and tackle objectives in any order across the open planet. Meanwhile, the 3D action combat keeps hunts engaging as you push deeper into dangerous territory. As a result, every session plays out differently.
Once the loop clicks, the depth reveals itself. For example, hunting, resource management, and cat-ear girl partnerships weave into a genuinely engaging cycle. Specifically, the ambition behind this DLsite survival-action title sets it apart from simpler entries in the genre. With 8,585 sales and a 4.16 rating from 1,687 reviews, this netorare hunting game has clearly earned its reputation.
What Makes It Fappable
This Nekotto Island review has to highlight how the H-content ties into the survival loop. You hunt creatures and gather spaceship parts alongside nekomimi companions. As a result, intimate scenes trigger naturally as you progress through exploration. Because of this, the pacing never feels forced or disconnected from gameplay.
Moreover, the 3D action format gives every encounter a physical presence that static CGs cannot match. Voice acting brings the cat-ear heroines to life with distinct personalities. In addition, the 2D-style moe character designs translate surprisingly well into 3D animation. Over 1,600 reviewers on DLsite gave the game a 4.16 out of 5, and the scene quality clearly contributes to that score.
Both netorare and netori elements weave through the adult content alongside lovey-dovey scenes. Consequently, this mix of emotional tones keeps the H-content unpredictable across the experience. Meanwhile, the sci-fi setting creates unusual backdrops that feel fresh compared to typical visual novel bedrooms. Each scenario carries a different tension dynamic layered over the same survival stakes.
Furthermore, the high degree of freedom lets you pursue encounters at your own pace across the open map. Lovey-dovey scenes with the beastkin heroines contrast sharply against the darker netorare scenarios. For a DLsite hunting game with 8,500+ sales, that range of tone is uncommon. Ultimately, the adult content matches the ambition of its gameplay systems.
Characters & Art
Nekotto Island delivers its visuals through a full 3D engine that blends anime-inspired character designs with sci-fi environments. The nekomimi heroines stand out with expressive faces and full voice acting during intimate scenes. For a DLsite action title, the production quality is notably polished. On another note, the game captures a 2D moe aesthetic that fans of anime-style adult games will appreciate.
The 3D character models successfully bring that 2D moe charm into a three-dimensional space. This is no small feat — many 3D adult games struggle to maintain that anime appeal. Specifically, the survival gameplay has you teaming up with cat-ear girls to hunt creatures and collect spaceship parts on an alien planet. The lovey-dovey H-scenes benefit from full voice acting, which adds personality to each character.
Beyond the character work, the sci-fi planet setting provides a varied visual backdrop for exploration and hunting. Creature designs and environmental details complement the survival gameplay loop without overshadowing the heroines. However, the game offers both lovey-dovey romance and netorare routes, giving players meaningful choices in how relationships unfold. The degree of freedom extends to the story paths, letting you pursue sweet love or darker NTR scenarios at your own pace.
Story (Spoiler-Free)
Nekotto Island drops you onto an alien planet with a simple goal: find spaceship parts and escape. You team up with nekomimi companions who help you survive the hostile wildlife. The sci-fi premise sets up a surprisingly engaging loop of exploration and survival. For a Nekotto Island review, the setup works better than most adult game stories.
However, the narrative leans heavily into its lovey-dovey side with the cat-ear girls. These relationships develop as you progress through the hunting and gathering gameplay. Meanwhile, the NTR elements add tension that contrasts sharply with the sweet moments. The game uses this tonal shift to keep players emotionally invested beyond just the H-content.
Admittedly, the story serves more as a framework for the 3D action gameplay than a deep narrative experience. Reviewers note the high degree of freedom makes each playthrough feel personal. Ultimately, this Nekotto Island review finds that the premise does its job well — it gives you reasons to care about your companions while keeping you motivated to explore.
Pros & Cons
Pros
- High degree of freedom — open survival gameplay lets you explore, hunt, and gather at your own pace across the island
- Fully voiced cat-ear heroines — multiple nekomimi characters with voice acting bring the lovey-dovey scenes to life
- Impressive 3D production — polished 3D character models with moe-style aesthetics that bridge the 2D/3D gap effectively
- Rich genre blend — combines survival mechanics, SF setting, and action combat with both netorare and sweet love story routes
- Substantial content volume — enough gameplay and H-scenes to justify the price, reflected in strong sales and a 4.16 rating across 1,600+ reviews
- Varied sexual scenarios — includes both lovey-dovey and NTR/netori content, giving players multiple tonal paths to explore
Cons
- Steep early learning curve — the opening hours lack adequate tutorials, leaving players to fumble through core mechanics like crafting and resource management without guidance
- Clunky vehicle controls — driving and navigation feel unpolished, making traversal across the island frustrating rather than enjoyable
- Rough edges in polish — despite strong core gameplay, several systems feel underbaked with occasional jank that breaks immersion during exploration segments
- NTR content may blindside players — the game blends sweet love and cuckoldry routes without always clearly signaling which path you’re on, which can be jarring for players who prefer one or the other
Customer Reviews
An environment where you can comfortably play 3D games. A thing for 2D-style moe character adult 3D games. A thing for NTR. A vivid imagination when it comes to lewd scenarios. If you’ve got all of these, this is a fantastic game for you.
First, the game itself is basically that one game—you know, the one where you get plucked out, fight creatures, and get eaten. You gather food while collecting parts of your spaceship to escape. Well, in this game, you get knocked around, violated, and cuckolded.
I bought this specifically for the NTR elements, and it delivered beautifully. The girl who was just your companion moments ago—the one loyally following behind you, helping you gather food—gets pinned down by the natives and forced into sex. Right in front of you. And if you can’t save her and she gets made to cum, she switches sides just like that. She falls so easily it’s almost funny. Watching those NTR scenes while filling in the blanks in your head—was the native’s dick really that good? Or is there some kind of spiritual force messing with her mind? Is that how the bond with the protagonist gets overwritten so effortlessly?—absolutely destroys you emotionally. And since there are lovey-dovey scenes with the protagonist too, it makes the NTR hit even harder. Unbearable in the best way.
By the way, you can shoot your allies with a gun to knock them out, then lure the natives over and get yourself taken down nearby—and they’ll get right to it.
The one downside is that after your ally defects to the native side, nothing really happens—there’s no lingering sense of being cuckolded after that. Also, the camera controls are rough, making it hard to see their facial expressions (they’re feeling it with hearts in their eyes—of course you want to get a good look). But from what I’ve seen on ci-en, these are common requests, and the developer seems to be considering additions and improvements at their own pace, so let’s keep our loins at the ready and wait patiently.
If you’re into 2D moe-style 3D action adult games, lovey-dovey romance, and NTR—buy this. It’ll blow your mind.

I played the demo right after it was released and decided to purchase the full version. I imagine it was an incredibly difficult journey getting to release — thank you for all your hard work. As the title suggests, while there are some areas I found a bit lacking, I thoroughly enjoyed the game overall. I hear you’ll be focusing on your next title going forward, and I’m looking forward to your future works.
Below are my personal thoughts on the good points, concerns, and requests. I hope they can serve as a useful reference.
**Good Points**
– The concept of allies getting cuckolded on the spot and defecting to the enemy side
– The intensity of large-scale many-vs-many battles
– A reasonable number of tactical options in combat through issuing orders to allies and choosing between melee/ranged weapons**Concerns**
– The core gameplay loop of “endlessly gathering meat and parts” feels very grindy
– The map is extremely large with steep terrain, making exploration somewhat difficult
– Due to the aforementioned terrain slopes, characters frequently clip into the ground during mating scenes
– There are situations where you get hit immediately after being knocked down, resulting in stun-lock chains**Personal Wishlist**
– Adding a more drawn-out process leading up to the natives cuckolding your female units (e.g., natives carry them back to their base → restraint → mating → defection after a certain number of partners/orgasms)
– Female units who defect to the native side going into heat (I’d like to see them continue mating with the natives even after switching sides)
– An option to make the protagonist non-targetable under certain conditions, or a gallery mode for mating animations
– An option to freely adjust the stun duration for each character, including the protagonist
– A full world map— Focal (4.0/5)
A game where you team up with cat-eared girls to collect spaceship parts and escape from a planet!
Gameplay-wise, it’s close to a survival game — you hunt animals to gather fuel while collecting scattered ship parts! The early game feels a bit under-explained and the vehicle controls can be tricky… there are some rough spots, but the degree of freedom is incredibly high, and once you get the hang of it, it’s genuinely fun! You can spend your time leisurely hunting to your heart’s content, or rush to grab all the parts and aim for the fastest escape possible!
The H-scenes mainly feature lovey-dovey sex with the cat-eared girls! The girls go into heat periodically, so when you spot one in heat, you can get it on with her! Every single H-scene features smooth, fluid 3D animated erotica, and the variety from different position changes is amazing! On top of that, you can hide (make transparent) the player character, which is perfect for those who want to focus entirely on the girl during H-scenes! Also, be careful — if the enemy “natives” get you, you might end up getting violated…
This title is seriously high-quality as a 3D survival game! If you’re into survival games or 3D animated erotica, why not give it a try?
